To be able to calculate from the Gregorian to/from the Julian system and to/from various liturgical calendars: Judaic, Orthodox Christian, Islamic, Hindi, etc. just to name some of the messier ones, from Year One of the oldest (to place the actual recorded dates of events on the modern civil calendar, and on into the future (assuming no changes, like the Islamic authorities adding correction for solar reality to their purely lunar system).
Way beyond my very limited programming abilities. Assume the Gregorian will remain in effect as-is, despite its 4-year cycle of leap days, and use both the current and possibly different calculations used by near-6,000-year-old systems in the past due to corrections as significant as going from Julian to Gregorian was.
