Chinese inch to mm

Hi,

I am a Chinese American. I had all my educations in China except my Ph.D degree. In all those school year in China, we've been taught that

1 meter = 3 Chinese Foot = 30 Chinese Inch

I called several friends with similar background as me, they all confirmed the same units conversion. But on this website, it is said that

1 meter = 2.691 971 195 9 chinese foot = 26.919 711 959 chinese inch

I am interested to know the source of this calculation.
