Micromole measures the number of molecules in a substance. Millilitres would typically be the volume of solution. If you're trying to convert between the two, you need to know the amount-of-substance concentration:

So you might be working with a chemical substance that has a concentration of 50 umol/ml. Then if you have 1 millilitre of solution, you end up with 50 micromoles of the substance.
