How do I figure out how much of a salt is when it's presented as containing water? For example in the AOAC rodent diet I'm working to interpret, it states it has FeSO4 .7H2O which I think means it has 7 water molecules on it? My question is what is the percent of Fe in that product (FeSO4. 7H2O). The period might be a multiplier. I'm also trying to interpret mineral %'s from MnSo4.H2O, ZnSO4.7H20 and MgSO4.5H2O.
