I have been offered an allotment and have been advised the size is 5 lugs. This conversion site converted it to about 25 m but I still have no idea what a lug is and there are very few references to it on the internet.

I think it may possibly be one of the very old English measurements. Not sure though why a piece of land would have a linear measurement, you would need to know it’s width as well.

Finally, not sure why our Council is many hundreds of years behind the times!
