You stated yourself "I was told by our isp that we get 7 "megs" but our service is unlimited" It is an unlimited connection, pay your bill and you wont go offline. You may want to check to see if your ISP throttles your speed down if you hit a certain data threshold (think TMobile unlimited cell data)

150 gigabytes of data, while not unlimited; is still a significant chunk of data. If you break it down to downloads thats roughly
-31000 MP3 songs [5mb each]
-1536 Full albums [100MB each]
-140 HQ Movies (NOT HD) [1.1gigs each]
-15 FullHD Bluray movies [10gigs each]

Satellite has its own problems as well, most are widely known already. Depending on what you need the connection for satellite may not be suitable for you. Business that use online video chat/Skype and gamers are affected by the inconsistencies of satellite.
