Kips to foot pounds torque   (05/16/2014, 10:35 AM)

Does anyone have a chart or convert approx. chart. Not sure how this is done. If you drive a pier into the ground with 5,000 ft lb torque, how do you translate the torque to kips, which is a measurement of force? Say the pier can handle up to 70,000 ultimately we go to 5000 ft lb torque and we want to know what our bearing pressure is ,in kips also.. Anyone can help or am I being stupid? Thanks
