You can convert each part, then combine them.
http://www.convertunits.com/from/1+mile/to/feet
1 mile = 5280 feet
http://www.convertunits.com/from/3+yards/to/feet
3 yards = 9 feet
So 1mile 3yards = 5280 + 9 = 5289 feet
